Cathy Bereznicki
Summary of professional role
Cathy Bereznicki is PAL's Labs in Learning Director. She produces experimental Lab spaces in which artists, scientists, educators and others mix together to create new work and challenge the context in which they work.
Why I am involved in the Training Observatory
In 2005 PAL ran a Colloquium for people working in the arts with young people who are excluded; we called it 'Volatile and Challenging Behaviour' but I think we have all moved on from there. We found that artists were increasingly involved in work for which they had no real training nor, in particular, any notion of what training might be available and how it might be of value to them. In addition, some artists want to make this their career path but there is no clarity about how they can access training and development. PAL is also concerned with artists making their own new work, so how does that fit with their other educational roles?
Area of expertise/interest
Bringing talented and passionate people together to imagine and make new Work, as well as having has many years experience in education, much of which was in career guidance.
